"...Powel was leaning to the line five meters from the finish. He stopped sprinting. Crawford was in trouble from the start and compounded the situation by tightening up.
THE BOTH FOLDED MENTALLY..."

"...He is an incredible talent and favored to win here at the Olympics, at the age of 20. I have spoken with him each day before his race and my advice to him is to continue doing exactly the things he's done to get to this point. Many young athletes get to the Olympics and feel they need to change something in order to be competitive. More often than not these changes prove to be detrimental of the athlete's performance. ...The most impressive thing about Jeremy is his ability to focus and approach the competition without concern for anything outside the race. I was able to do this and it is something that you can try to teach an athlete, but few can do it. ...Most importantly, he already has the maturity to deal with the pressure that comes with winning. But first he must use that maturity, determination and above all this physical ability, to win the gold medal tonight."
